The Devil In Miss Mansfield

In early 1967 Jayne Mansfield befriended Anton LaVey, the High Priest of San Francisco's

sensationalistic Church of Satan.  In June he would visit her Pink Palace for a photoshoot

with the buxom bombshell.  Hollywood lawyer Sam Brody, Jayne's lover, would mock

the proceedings infuriating LaVey, who cursed him with death within a year.

Strangely enough just two weeks after LaVey's visit, Brody, Jayne and three of her children were

traveling at night on a dark stretch of road near New Orleans when their car ran under

a semi. The driver, Brody and Mansfield were all killed instantly.

The children, asleep in the back seat, were unharmed.

Jayne was born on this day in 1933.

Considering how misunderstood LaVey's doctrine and establishment

were, it's interesting to note how he nearly undermines his own theology here

by focusing on the more sensational aspects of his beliefs when given the soapbox.

No more informative than it is entertaining and often unintentionally laughable.
