Nude model and porn star Shauna Grant (aka Colleen Applegate)

took the adult film industry by storm in the early 1980s with her wholesome

girl-next-door looks, natural beauty and sultry sex appeal.

(Fun fact:  Francis Ford Coppola was actually seated at her table during

the 8th Annual Adult Film Awards, such was her popularity at the time.)

 Despite earning some well-deserved acting and performance awards

during her brief stay, she retired; expressing particular disdain for the industry.
She would commit suicide on this date in 1984 due to uncertain circumstances.
A highly-exaggerated television movie of her life entitled
Shattered Innocence was produced in 1988.
